Context and challenge

Allied creates Class I workspaces across Canada. Demtroys saw an opportunity to help it save energy at scale.

Allied chose to install an energy management system in one of its buildings in Toronto, a nine-level, electrically heated building with 24 units.

Solution

Allied installed the Demtroys energy management system in the building. The study reports the result of the system as a whole, without listing individual components.

Demtroys states that ten further systems were installed in Allied buildings over the following two years.

How the Demtroys system works

Results

As reported by Demtroys44.83%heating savings
Yearly savings817,728 kWhenergy

Demtroys compared the consumption measured during the reporting period with a theoretical consumption for the same building without the energy management system. The difference is reported as avoided energy consumption.

The theoretical consumption was adjusted for the conditions that prevailed during the reporting period, such as outdoor temperature.

  • This is a comparison with an adjusted estimate. It is not a raw before-and-after comparison of bills.
  • The study reports one building. It does not describe results across Allied's other buildings.
